SCOFF pop-up, delicious street food that brings people together

About Us

At SCOFF-pop-up, we strive to represent the best food traders in the South West. We want people to enjoy the unique experience of eating alfresco, supporting local businesses and chowing down on something fresh and memorable for lunch. No more boring lunches we say!

We are a female led team, passionate about food and the desire to bring communities together over the love of food.

Our team of street food specialists will work with you to create a bespoke pop-up experience that meets the specific demands of a site or event. We’re able to bring something special to any space using the power of tantalizing street food to encourage further social interactions and connections within the local community.

We love a challenge and are particularly fond of activating disused and derelict spaces bringing them back to life with our events.

Our track record includes:

Bristol’s BIG Market, Eat Drink Bristol Fashion, Taste Chocolate, Brunel Square Market, Ashton Court Producers Market, Feast at Finzels, Finzels Reach and Temple Quay Christmas Market, Finzels Reach Market and SCOFF pop-up.

Sophie Bowden
Director

Sophie came up with the idea of SCOFF pop-up in lockdown when markets were closed. She wanted to create a safe way to bring street food to surburban areas to boost morale for both the community and her traders.

Sophie Bowden
Owner and Director

Sophie often works with developers, using her experience in event activation, logisitics and delivery; combined with her expertise in the food industry to produce exciting events and pop-up concepts. Her vision to help build communities and place-making makes her an ideal fit for new developments, activating buildings before demolition and creating a legacy in the early stages whilst the brick dust is still settling.

It also helps that Sophie was once herself a trader and therefore can see things from both sides. She uses this insight to fully understand the strategic, social and operational requirements needed to build a successful pop-up site that creates inclusion and longevity.

Clients include: Cubex, BBC Studios, Create Real Estate, North Somerset Council, Willmott Dixon and Redcliffe and Temple BID,

13 July 2018

Just weeks before the redevelopment of the fermentation building at Finzels Reach, locals and visitors had the opportunity to attend a free one-time-only night market showcasing the best in local street food, local beer, and cider. The night market allowed people to explore their historic surroundings, as well as tantalizing their taste buds with scrumptious street food. Furthermore, the success of this event gave rise to the spin-off event 'Festive Feast at Finzels' which took place in a nearby derelict fire station just before its demolition. Both events provided valuable place-making opportunities for the developers we collaborated with.

Testimonials

“We approached SCOFF as we wanted to attract more people to the estate and for different reasons. We also wanted to start to build a case for similar occupiers to locate themselves at Avonside on a permanent basis. It’s positively succeeded in drawing new visitors from a broad cross section of the local community on a regular basis and has driven social media engagement and awareness.

SCOFF stands out because of the diversity and quality of the food offering, the professionalism of the organisation and execution of the pop-ups plus it requires barely any input from us. We’ve found it effective in promoting the estate and would recommend working with Sophie and her team”.

“During lockdown, we were looking for an outdoor activity that our berthholders and residents could look forward to without breaching lockdown rules.SCOFF came at the perfect time giving locals a purpose to get out into the fresh air and enjoy some exciting food but in a safe environment.

SCOFF has helped the marina become more of a destination and brings a different demographic to the area by speaking to the wider community. The pop-up brings street food to a town where there are limited takeaways available and the changing line-up of street food on offer means there is always choice.

We’ve been surprised at how easily it runs; as a site owner, we really don’t have to do much. The operation is self-sufficient, the traders are clean and tidy and the variety and quality of traders is extremely high. I would 100%recommend SCOFF to other site owners and developers”.
